Information
About Our Practice
Thank
you for giving us the privilege of providing your reproductive endocrinology
and infertility (REI) care. We are glad to welcome you as a new
member of our REI TEAM as you will be playing an important role
in your own treatment. Here are some aspects of patient care that
you will want to know:
PATIENT
- PHYSICIAN COMMUNICATION
Frequently,
we need to quickly contact patients regarding lab results, medication
needs, treatment and appointments. Please make sure that we always
have your current address and phone numbers. Check for accuracy
at our reception desk or with the telephone assistant at 713-790-9900.
It is very important that we be able to reach patients at all times.
Part
of the REI TEAMWORK is our system of handling telephone calls. When
you have a question or need, please contact our office. The physician,
nurse and medical assistant will review the message and return your
call with an answer as soon as they have time. If you feel you need
to speak directly with the physician, please schedule an appointment.
Calls are usually returned in the late morning or late afternoon.
LABORATORY
RESULTS
All
laboratory results are reviewed by the physician before they are
given to patients by the infertility nurse. Semen analyses generally
require 3-5 days for completion.
OVULATION
INDUCTION CYCLES
Patients
undergoing ovulation induction cycles are closely monitored. Our
team reviews laboratory results at our daily meeting between 3:00
-3:30 PM. It is imperative that we be able to contact patients regarding
dosage adjustments or other treatment information.
INSURANCE
AND BILLING
Our
billing staff is available to help patients determine their insurance
coverage. Please inquire about charges that may not be covered by
insurance because coverage varies widely. Patients are ultimately
responsible for all charges.
BECOME
INVOLVED
We
invite patients to become involved in their care. This facilitates
communication and understanding and also helps reduce the stress
involved with fertility care.
PRE-APPOINTMENT
INFERTILITY INFORMATION
Dear
Couple:
Thank
you for allowing us to assist in your fertility care. In keeping
with our commitment to provide you with quality reproductive care,
the following tests will be required prior to attempting conception
through infertility treatment. These tests should be done early
in the process so any corrective treatment can be completed before
initiating your infertility treatment. Some corrective treatments
may require waiting as much as 3 months before trying to conceive.
If
these tests have been run previously, we will request the results
from your primary care provider (PCP) after your first visit. If
these tests have not been performed, you might want to have your
PCP obtain them prior to your visit with us to expedite your workup
We
also recommend that all women attempting to become pregnant take
prenatal vitamins containing 1 mg folic acid and one baby aspirin.
